About the role#
Caring Hands Animal Hospital offers a Veterinary Technician Student Externship and Preceptorship Program for students currently enrolled in an accredited Veterinary Technician school. This program provides practical experience in a clinical setting to help you prepare for your career after graduation. You will work directly with our team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to gain hands-on experience in routine and emergency veterinary care.
What you'll do#
- Assist with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Administer medications and vaccinations.
- Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures.
- Conduct laboratory tests like bloodwork and urinalysis.
- Take radiographs.
- Provide care for hospitalized animals.
- Educate pet owners on preventive care.
- Help maintain a clean and organized work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Veterinary Technician program.
- A strong desire to learn and a focus on animal care.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic knowledge of animal handling and medical terminology.
