About the role#
This internship provides graduate students with direct experience in mental health services. You will work on-site in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, during the Winter 2027 term. This is an unpaid position intended for academic credit.
What you'll do#
- Assist in delivering mental health services, including individual, family, and group therapy, as well as substance abuse treatment.
- Gain experience with clinical interventions tailored to specific client needs.
- Participate in the creation of assessments and treatment plans.
- Handle case documentation.
- Attend a mandatory 40-hour orientation and training session at the start of your internship.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate program for Social Work, Counseling, or a related field at an accredited institution.
- Good academic standing.
- An established contract between your academic institution and the site.
- A minimum 100-hour commitment.
- Ability to meet goals set by your university and site supervisor.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Maturity and self-motivation.
- Comfort working with families with diverse needs.
