About the role#
As a student intern, you will work under the direction of a licensed engineer and project leadership. You will join our multi-disciplinary team to support projects across the Education, Health, S&T, Commercial, and Sports, Rec and Wellness markets. This role involves both new construction and renovation work. For students who meet the qualifications, this position has the potential to evolve into a full-time entry-level role.
What you'll do#
- Perform structural analysis and design for new and existing structural systems.
- Prepare documents and reports from concept design through technical design documentation.
- Assist in the review and markup of shop drawing submittals.
- Recommend ways to improve process, quality, and coordination.
- Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, which may involve a physical walk-through.
- Handle other duties as required.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Master in Civil Engineering with a structural focus, Master in Structural Engineering, or Master of Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Completed coursework in building systems engineering.
- Experience or coursework in concrete and steel design.
- Experience in masonry and wood design is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with engineering design programs like Revit or RAM is preferred.
