About the role#
CALSTART is looking for a Sustainability Intern to support the Midwest and San Joaquin Valley regional offices. This role focuses on Clean Ports projects and broader office initiatives. You will gain experience in project management, research, and stakeholder engagement while working across two distinct regional environments.
What you'll do#
- Research emerging fuel types for medium- and heavy-duty transportation and write internal memos to share your findings.
- Collect data by conducting outreach to operators involved in the Midwest Regional Office Clean Ports project.
- Research environmental conditions to help inform resiliency considerations for the Clean Ports project area.
- Develop community engagement strategies for the Midwest Regional Office.
- Support the execution of the San Joaquin Valley Clean Ports project and assist with broader regional office tasks.
- Contribute to statewide strategy development in California.
What you'll need#
- You are currently an undergraduate or graduate student focusing on transportation, environmental, or community and regional planning.
- Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft 365.
- Knowledge of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, charging infrastructure, transportation electrification, or energy systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- You work well with others and can manage multiple tasks at once.
- An interest in regional work and stakeholder engagement.
Location & details#
- This is a remote, paid internship position.
- The role is full-time with a rolling start date.
- Compensation is 19-21 USD per hour.
