About the role#
The Ag Operations General Labor position supports the day-to-day work at the Cal Poly Pomona Student Farm. This role involves general farm labor tasks essential to the production and maintenance of crops.
What you'll do#
- Assist with field preparation activities including transplanting, thinning, and hoeing.
- Install, maintain, and remove drip tape.
- Support harvesting and packing operations.
- Keep the work environment clean and organized.
- Follow all food and worker safety policies.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, and wind.
- Adhere to assigned work schedules and demonstrate punctuality.
What you'll need#
- Ability to perform physical labor like lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Capacity to lift 25lbs.
- Willingness to work in outdoor agricultural environments.
- A dependable, self-motivated approach and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Previous farm or field experience is helpful but not required.
