About the role#
Builders Mutual is hiring an Actuarial Intern for Summer 2027. This position offers a 10-week experience in our Actuarial department, where you will gain hands-on experience in data analysis, pricing, and reserving. You will receive regular coaching, career feedback, and guidance from an intern manager while building relationships with peers and a dedicated intern buddy.
What you'll do#
- Identify risks and trends by developing and projecting data.
- Develop an understanding of data analysis through reporting, pricing, and reserving.
- Participate in a one-week orientation and conclude the internship with a presentation to executives.
- Gain exposure to claims and adjuster workflows through training and shadowing.
- Participate in professional development workshops and leadership roundtables.
- Contribute to the community through volunteer opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Current Sophomore or Junior undergraduate student.
- Pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or Economics.
- Practical experience gained through school, work, or extracurricular activities.
- Demonstrable leadership experience in group projects, clubs, or classroom settings.
- High-level analytical capabilities and a drive for critical thinking.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of SQL, R, or Python is a plus.
- Ability to work 37.5 hours per week for the 10-week duration.
Location & details#
- Location: Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Work Modality: Hybrid, with three days per week onsite and two days remote.
- Commitment: 10 weeks, full-time.
- This is a paid internship.
