About the role#
As an Underwriting Intern, you will learn how the underwriting function supports the insurance process. You will focus on risk selection, file documentation, and collaborate on team projects. This role provides insight into our products, underwriting appetite, and business processes. You will receive coaching and feedback from an intern manager while building relationships with peers and leadership.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a one-week orientation and deliver a final presentation to executives.
- Gain hands-on exposure to claims and adjuster workflows.
- Attend professional development workshops and leadership roundtables.
- Contribute to the community through volunteer opportunities.
- Work 37.5 hours per week over a 10-week period.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Risk Management Insurance or Business.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.
- Interest in working for an NC based regional carrier after graduation.
- Demonstrable leadership experience from school, work, or extracurriculars.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- High-level analytical capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to learn new software and tools quickly.

- Location: Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Modality: Hybrid (onsite three days per week).
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Commitment: 10 weeks, full-time (37.5 hours per week).
- This is a paid internship.
