About the role#
Breakthrough Central Texas seeks Program & Advising Fellows for the 2026-2027 AmeriCorps service year. This full-time, on-site role focuses on supporting students in middle school, high school, and postsecondary pathways. Fellows are assigned a specific caseload and provide individualized mentorship, academic support, and program implementation to help students achieve their postsecondary goals.
What you'll do#
- Provide academic support services to students at the Breakthrough office or at the student’s campus.
- Mentor students on the skills and strategies needed for success in attaining postsecondary goals.
- Communicate with students and families regularly, including some evening and weekend hours.
- Track and communicate updates on student progress and needs to relevant stakeholders.
- Participate actively in all training, professional development, civic reflection, and service activities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of programming and events for students and families.
What you'll need#
- Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident.
- Strong commitment to community service and the ability to serve for the complete program year.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish) language skills are strongly preferred.
- Ability to work cooperatively on a team and adapt to changing roles.
- Reliable personal transportation.

About Breakthrough Central Texas
Breakthrough Central Texas is a nonprofit organization based in Austin. Founded in 2001, the group supports middle and high school students who aim to be the first in their families to earn a college degree. The organization works with students across 60 public schools and maintains partnerships with nearly 100 colleges. It currently employs 130 people.
