About the role#
This is a paid internship program for students enrolled in a two-year John Deere Diesel Technician associate degree program. You will combine classroom instruction with hands-on work to master the technical skills needed to become a service technician. This role requires dealer sponsorship and includes a commitment to both academic performance and on-site training.
What you'll do#
- Complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training while maintaining at least a 2.7 GPA.
- Meet all credit requirements of the John Deere University curriculum.
- Attain certifications in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service Advisor training.
- Assist senior technicians with basic service tasks and learn to remove, disassemble, and recondition components.
- Conduct pre-delivery set-up and inspections for new equipment.
- Maintain a clean work area and document all time and materials used on jobs.
- Dedicate at least 4 hours each week to self-directed training and study internal manuals like Parts Advisor and Service Advisor.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and complete necessary service reports.
- Work toward achieving a minimum 50% labor performance rate.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- A valid driver license.
- Fundamental knowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrains, air-conditioning, and electrical systems.
- Interest in learning repair methods and techniques for agricultural machinery and outdoor power equipment.
- Strong work ethic and effective communication skills.
- Ability to repeatedly lift at least 25 lbs.
- A forklift license is preferred.
