About the role#
The Student Nursing Assistant works under the supervision of Registered Nurses and unit leadership to support patient care on the Med/Surg unit. This per diem role involves providing direct clinical and support services to patients and their families across the health care continuum. You will work as part of a team to ensure safe and quality care delivery while maintaining hospital standards and protocols.
What you'll do#
- Collect and record patient data including vital signs, intake and output, weights, and blood sugar levels.
- Assist nursing staff with routine patient care, safety, and comfort needs.
- Maintain ongoing verbal communication with the Registered Nurse regarding patient conditions and any significant changes.
- Provide basic patient hygiene assistance such as bathing, dressing, oral care, and skin care.
- Respond to call lights and perform routine patient rounds.
- Identify emergency situations and initiate appropriate responses as directed.
- Assist with preoperative care, specimen collection, and patient transportation.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing spot cleaning and managing equipment.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing program with successful completion of Fundamentals of Nursing.
- Minimum of one year of recent experience as a CNA or as a nursing student who has completed at least one semester of nursing skills lab or simulation.
- Current CPR and BLS certifications.
- Ability to effectively read, write, and speak English.
- Proficiency in basic math and quantitative measurements.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as pushing, transferring, and pulling patients or equipment.

- Compensation: $16.66 - $24.77 per hour.
