About the role#
BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is looking for a Finance Intern to join our team in a year-round capacity. This role supports our finance team with analysis, reporting, and process improvement. You will gain hands-on experience in a global manufacturing environment, assisting with month-end close, forecasting, and data-driven initiatives. We are looking for students with a foundation in finance or accounting who are eager to use AI-driven tools and data analytics to improve financial insights and efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Use AI tools to automate data preparation, generate insights for financial trends, and improve reporting efficiency.
- Support the enhancement of Power BI dashboards, Excel models, and analytical templates.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Integrate data from multiple sources into relevant reports.
- Use SAP to prepare monthly intercompany AR confirmations.
- Reconcile GL balances in SAP and OneStream, and track journal entries.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations for prepaid assets, accrued liabilities, and intercompany accounts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Supply Chain, Operations, and Engineering, on data-driven projects.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and standardization.
What you'll need#
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, specifically VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, IF statements, and PivotTables.
- Comfort working with large datasets to compare results and research variances.
- Strong quantitative aptitude and attention to detail.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in AI-assisted analysis and automation, including a willingness to learn prompt basics and document AI-assisted workflows.
- Understanding of data privacy and responsible AI use when handling financial information.
- Coursework or interest in finance, accounting, data science, data analytics, business intelligence, machine learning, or finance transformation.
- A proactive mindset and a willingness to learn.
