About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship for the Winter 2027 term. You will join the team in St-Laurent, Quebec, working in a hybrid capacity. This role focuses on research and development within our extended reality (XR) initiatives, requiring you to bridge technical software development with practical aerospace applications.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate strategic collaborative research projects in XR with industry, academic, and government partners.
- Help build and integrate a new extended reality lab at our site.
- Develop frameworks for XR projects using software compatible with devices like Microsoft HoloLens, Oculus, HTC Vive, and Apple Vision Pro.
- Contribute to the development of our internal XR framework and support specific use cases.
- Create training and maintenance guidelines for the XR community.
- Present project achievements to your team to encourage design thinking.
- Develop new intellectual property and build business cases for new concepts, including technical evaluations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year student in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or at the CEGEP level.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, or Swift.
- Experience with Unreal Engine, Unity, or Reality Composer Pro.
- Familiarity with RealityKit/ARKit and 3D modelling tools.
- Practical experience with augmented or virtual reality headsets.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve problems systematically.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas through reports and presentations.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, while remaining comfortable in a matrix reporting structure.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite.
- A genuine interest in the aerospace industry and a proactive approach to research.
