About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Arlington, Virginia. You will work on-site as part of the news team, focusing on data-driven reporting across legal, tax, and government topics. This position requires active participation in real newsroom work under deadline pressure.
What you'll do#
- Assist in producing data-driven reporting projects.
- Incorporate data into daily stories and long-term investigative pieces.
- Perform real work on deadline to build your professional portfolio.
- Engage with mentors, senior leaders, and subject matter experts.
- Participate in company charitable activities.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least three years of an undergraduate program, recent graduation, or enrollment in a graduate journalism program.
- Prior training or experience in data journalism.
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Experience with R or Python is preferred.
- A drive to produce high-quality reporting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with reporters and editors.
- Readiness to provide examples of past data journalism work during the screening process.
