About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Arlington, Virginia. You will join our news team to produce investigative data visualizations and quick-turn graphics for breaking news. You will work on real projects, gain experience in a professional newsroom, and receive mentorship from senior leaders and experts.
What you'll do#
- Design graphics and produce visual stories.
- Query and maintain databases.
- Create full digital experiences and interactive features.
- Perform work on deadline as a member of our team.
- Engage with senior leaders and expert professionals.
- Participate in company charitable activities.
What you'll need#
- Prior training or experience in data visualization or graphics.
- Examples of graphics or other visualization projects you have produced.
- Development experience with modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with frameworks such as Vue, Svelte, or D3.
- Experience rendering graphics in the browser using SVG or Canvas.
- Ability to work within a team under deadline pressure.
- A drive to produce journalism and a willingness to collaborate with reporters and editors.
- By the start of Summer 2027, you must have completed at least three years of an undergraduate program, have graduated, or be enrolled in a graduate journalism program.
