About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Avon, Minnesota. You will work on-site at a construction project, assisting the team with safety programs and ensuring an injury-free environment. This role requires relocation to the assigned project site for the 12-week duration.
What you'll do#
- Spend about 65% of your time in the field conducting audits and visiting crews or subcontractors.
- Collaborate with site supervisors to identify and fix unsafe working conditions.
- Assist with investigations into accidents and near misses alongside trade superintendents.
- Accompany health, safety, and insurance inspectors during site tours.
- Help the site team execute safety programs, including orientations, JHA documentation, and daily field observations.
- Participate in company safety training programs, such as OSHA 10 and 30-hour courses.
- Ensure all safety documentation meets corporate and external requirements.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a four-year degree in occupational safety, health, or a related field.
- Ability to relocate to the assigned construction project site for the internship.
- A valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, and Project.
- Comfort working in environments with dust, heat, noise, and dirt, including trailer offices.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to organize multiple tasks.
- Ability to recognize imminent danger and take action.
- Independent motivation and supervisory skills.
