    About the role#

    The R&D Research Technician Co-op works under the supervision of a Research Scientist to support molecular biology and microbiology projects. You will gain experience designing and executing experiments while contributing to the development of novel diagnostic assays. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Philadelphia.

    What you'll do#

    • Perform molecular biology and microbiology tasks to support research goals.
    • Manage general laboratory duties such as PCR master mix production, media preparation, autoclaving, and processing glassware.
    • Keep detailed records of experimental goals, results, and conclusions in a laboratory notebook.
    • Maintain a clean work area and production equipment.
    • Follow safety requirements, cGMP, SOPs, and manufacturing documentation.
    • Report equipment or facility issues to your manager.
    • Assist with ordering and other duties as assigned.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic.
    • Proficiency in MS Office tools including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and troubleshoot experiments.
    • Clear verbal communication skills and high attention to detail.
    • Experience with PCR, gel electrophoresis, and aseptic techniques for bacteria or yeast is preferred.
    • No previous experience is required.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Schedule: Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week.
    • Term: Rolling.
    • Physical requirements: Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods, climb stairs or ladders, wear PPE, operate heavy machinery, and move objects up to 50 pounds. The laboratory environment includes exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving parts, and noise.
