About the role#
BFL CANADA is hiring an actuarial student to join our team in Montreal. This is a full-time, paid internship with a hybrid work structure. You will work within our employee benefits division, which focuses on group and individual insurance, retirement planning, and special risk insurance.
What you'll do#
- Analyze insurance financial data and perform cost modeling.
- Prepare financial reports and presentations to share key findings with clients.
- Manage relationships and participate in negotiations with insurers and partners.
- Respond to inquiries from insurance providers.
- Help develop strategic client recommendations and support new business development.
- Ensure the quality and timely delivery of client projects.
- Maintain internal databases and contribute to best practices.
- Keep internal technical knowledge current and represent the firm in the market.
- Handle special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years of university studies in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or a related field.
- Successful completion of at least one preliminary Society of Actuaries (SOA) exam.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills for working with stakeholders outside of Quebec.
- Previous actuarial experience and a commitment to obtaining the ASA/ACIA designation are considered assets.
