About the role#
This internship provides a 12-week, full-time summer opportunity for students to contribute to defense and aerospace testing missions. You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists on technical assignments that support the ground test facilities at Arnold Engineering Development Complex. You will be expected to present a briefing to management that demonstrates your accomplishments and what you learned during the program.
What you'll do#
- Complete real engineering and technical work rather than administrative tasks.
- Manage multiple tasks to support test operations across various facilities.
- Oversee the installation, operation, sustainment, and troubleshooting of test cell equipment and systems.
- Collaborate with teams of mechanical and electrical engineers to provide system engineering support.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Science/Software Engineering.
- At least sophomore status with 45 credit hours completed by May 2027.
- Minimum GPA of 2.75.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the local area network.
- Cybersecurity students must possess a Security+ certification.

- Location: Arnold AFB, Tennessee.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May to August).
- Work modality: On-site, 40 hours per week.
- Travel: Ability to move between multiple facilities and buildings within the complex is required.
