About the role#
Beam Therapeutics is seeking a Process Engineering Co-op to join the LNP Development team for the Winter 2027 term. You will work on scale-up activities for lipid nanoparticle (tLNP) formulations and process development. This role involves troubleshooting and data-driven experimental design to support next-generation LNP formulations.
What you'll do#
- Support the development, optimization, and scale-up of tLNP manufacturing processes.
- Conduct formulation and process development studies, including LNP mixing, filtration, and tangential flow filtration (TFF).
- Run laboratory experiments to assess process performance and characterize the impact of critical process parameters on LNP quality, stability, and manufacturability.
- Contribute to process improvement through experimental design, data analysis, and troubleshooting of manufacturing challenges.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across LNP Development, Analytical Development, and Process Optimization.
- Document experimental activities, analyze results, and present findings to the project team.
- Follow laboratory safety policies and support routine laboratory operations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a BS or MS program in Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Interest in drug delivery, bioprocess development, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and data analytics tools.
- Familiarity with process engineering concepts.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain student status throughout the duration of the co-op.

- Compensation: This is a paid position with an hourly pay range of $23 to $34 USD, determined by experience, skills, and education.
