About the role#
Beam Therapeutics is hiring a Human Resources Co-op for the Winter and Summer 2027 terms. This role focuses on strengthening HR operations, compliance, and process documentation. You will gain hands-on experience by auditing files, researching retention requirements, and improving workflows. This position is paid and requires you to maintain active student status at a college or university.
What you'll do#
- Audit personnel files to ensure they are complete, consistent, and follow confidentiality and recordkeeping requirements.
- Document your findings and suggest corrective actions.
- Research HR record-retention requirements and build a formal retention schedule for personnel and HR documents.
- Review key processes like onboarding, offboarding, and employee communications to verify that controls are current and well-documented.
- Recommend improvements to make HR processes clearer, more efficient, and scalable.
- Organize HR records and documentation into a centralized, consistent structure.
- Handle confidential information with care and support on-site culture and team events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS degree program in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- Knowledge of HR compliance practices.
- Ability to manage confidential information responsibly.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Experience translating workflows into clear, structured documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and keep projects on track.
Location & details#
- Location: Durham, North Carolina.
- Modality: Hybrid and on-site, requiring attendance 4-5 days per week.
- Term: January through June 2027.
- Compensation: $23 to $34 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and education.
