About the role#
Beam Therapeutics is seeking an engineering or science student for a Technical Operations Co-op position. This role runs from January through June 2027. You will support cross-functional validation teams as they demonstrate that gene editing equipment and manufacturing processes meet internal standards and regulatory requirements. This position offers exposure to various functions including R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.
What you'll do#
- Learn about gene editing manufacturing equipment, technologies, and processes.
- Review and verify technical data in risk assessments, protocols, and reports to ensure accuracy.
- Communicate findings, recommendations, and issues to cross-functional teams through updates and presentations.
- Evaluate and document manufacturing process data while identifying potential issues and suggesting solutions.
- Obtain scientific and technical information to support the integrity of departmental documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program pursuing a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering, or Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or Biology.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Experience retrieving scientific or technical information from digital sources.
- Strong organizational, communication, and detail-oriented skills.
- Experience with technical writing and developing presentations is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Durham, North Carolina.
- The role follows a hybrid work schedule with an expectation of onsite attendance 4-5 days per week.
- This is a paid, full-time co-op term.
