About the role#
BDO Canada is seeking a Co-op Student or Intern to join the Forensic Disputes & Investigations (FDI) team in Toronto for the Summer 2027 term, running from May to August. You will work within a national team to provide investigative, litigation support, and insurance advisory services. This full-time, paid position offers a hybrid work environment.
What you'll do#
- Execute FDI engagements, including investigations into fraud, corruption, and money-laundering.
- Perform economic analysis for business interruption, product loss, and cyber claims.
- Conduct accounting analysis related to shareholder disputes, breach of contracts, and intellectual property.
- Examine financial records, analyze data, and construct financial models.
- Conduct economic and industry research to support forensic analysis.
- Assist in drafting client reports and presentations.
- Participate in engagement team meetings and support business development opportunities.
- Maintain relationships with current and prospective clients.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a post-secondary program specializing in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Intent to pursue the CPA designation.
- Strong interest in a career in Investigative and Forensic Accounting.
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing deliverables with varying deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience or a strong interest in learning data analytics tools.
