About the role#
This summer internship at the Dakota Gasification Company in Beulah, North Dakota, offers hands-on experience in a laboratory setting. You will support plant process operations, environmental monitoring, and industrial hygiene through organic, inorganic, and physical testing. The role runs from approximately May 17, 2027, through August 20, 2027, and may require working a 12-hour rotating shift.
What you'll do#
- Perform organic and inorganic analytical bench chemistry.
- Calibrate laboratory instruments and troubleshoot testing procedures.
- Log samples into the Lab Information System and record data.
- Validate test results to ensure they meet quality control standards.
- Follow all safety, security, and procedural guidelines.
- Assist with the annual Family Night event, including setup and cleanup.
- Handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and operating laboratory equipment.
What you'll need#
- At least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in a science-based program, such as chemistry, with at least one year completed, or graduation within the past 12 months.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.
- Ability to work with chemicals and in environments with varying temperatures.
- Submission of your transcript at the time of application is required.
- Previous internship experience or relevant coursework is preferred.
