    About the role#

    We are looking for a Canola Breeding Summer Associate to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Headingley, Manitoba. This is a full-time, paid position for the summer of 2027. You will work on-site to support our local and global breeding programs. Please note that students are employed through a third-party contracting agency.

    What you'll do#

    • Participate in field trials for local and global breeding programs.
    • Manage field activities for variety development and registration, from seeding to harvest.
    • Handle seed set up, land preparation, seeding, pest control, pollination management, plot maintenance, and parental development.
    • Supervise casual employees as needed.
    • Monitor field and research plots daily to diagnose crop health.
    • Collect data and work effectively both in a group setting and independently.

    What you'll need#

    • Breeding and agronomic knowledge gained through a degree or diploma in Agriculture or a related field.
    • Recently obtained your degree or diploma in Agriculture within the last two years.
    • A valid driver's license.
    • Ability to solve problems and modify plans as situations arise.
    • Interest in canola development and the ability to deliver results for both individual and team goals.
    • Previous farm or machinery experience is an asset, as is a Class 3 driver's license.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Headingley, Manitoba.
    • Term: Summer 2027 (4 to 8 months).
    • Pay: $25 to $32 per hour, with overtime paid for evenings or weekends during peak periods.
