About the role#
As a Mechatronics Engineering Intern, you will join our team to help develop hydrogen storage technology into a commercial product. You will work alongside engineers and scientists to tackle challenges in reactor design, measurement systems, and laboratory automation. This role involves a variety of tasks, from designing parts and programming components to hands-on manufacturing and assembly.
What you'll do#
- Work with chemistry, mechanical, and electrical teams to design, build, and integrate systems.
- Assist with reactor and test equipment design, including mechanical design, engineering simulation, and prototyping.
- Support the development of microcontroller-based measurement and automation tools.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers to enhance laboratory functionality.
- Generate design documentation such as schematics and controls notes.
- Specify, source, and evaluate electrical and instrumentation components.
- Support hazard reviews, risk assessments, and safe operating procedures.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Control, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience building and testing mechatronic systems through coursework, design teams, personal projects, or previous work terms.
- Experience working with Solidworks CAD software to produce design and manufacturing drawings.
- Experience with microcontroller platforms such as Arduino or M5Stack for measurement, automation, or data acquisition.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship located in Calgary, Alberta.
- The internship term is 12 or 16 months.
- This position is for rolling starts.
