This is a full-time, paid summer 2026 internship based on-site in Plymouth, Michigan. You will gain hands-on experience with AVL systems while performing equipment repair, calibration, and maintenance. This role is designed to build a technical foundation in both electrical and mechanical systems within an automotive manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Calibrate and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on AVL equipment.
- Assist in the evaluation and repair of equipment, including installation and configuration.
- Wire control devices and verify their operation.
- Record and document calibrations, diagnostic results, and performance test data.
- Maintain accurate shift logs and administrative records, including timesheets and calibration reports.
- Provide feedback on troubleshooting guides and contribute to continuous improvement methods.
- Complete all required safety training and actively participate in your own training plan.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Industrial Engineering, or Physics.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical repair and precision mechanical assembly.
- Experience with emissions testing and automotive applications.
- Ability to diagnose problems with simple systems.
- Proficiency with fine mechanical hand tools and basic personal computer hardware and software.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
