About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2026 based in Plymouth, Michigan. You will gain hands-on experience with AVL systems while working on equipment repair, calibration, and maintenance. This role helps you build a foundation in electrical and mechanical systems within an automotive environment.
What you'll do#
- Calibrate, perform preventative, and corrective maintenance on AVL equipment.
- Assist in the evaluation and repair of equipment.
- Wire control devices and verify their operation.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of test equipment.
- Record and document calibration, diagnostic, and performance test results.
- Maintain shift logs and submit calibration reports.
- Provide feedback on troubleshooting guides and continuous improvement methods.
- Complete all required safety training and participate in your own training plan.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Industrial Engineering, or Physics.
- Experience with emissions testing and automotive applications.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical repair.
- Basic knowledge of personal computer hardware and software.
- Ability to diagnose problems with simple systems.
- Familiarity with fine mechanical hand tools.
- Strong communication skills.
- You must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
