About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring an Underwriting Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position located on-site in Duluth, Georgia. You will gain practical experience in the insurance industry while working alongside our team to support underwriting operations.
What you'll do#
- Learn insurance coverages, contracts, company philosophy, and procedures to inform underwriting decisions.
- Become familiar with company policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements.
- Analyze loss experience, financial conditions, and the physical characteristics of various risks.
- Develop a working knowledge of the different sections within the underwriting department.
- Communicate with independent agents and internal staff through verbal and written channels.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in college, entering your junior or senior year.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- Ability to organize data, manage multiple tasks, and make independent decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capacity to resolve complex issues.
- Interest in participating in educational programs to build product knowledge.
