About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring for an Underwriting Internship during the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Mesa, Arizona. You will work within our underwriting team to gain experience in insurance operations and risk assessment.
What you'll do#
- Learn insurance coverages, contracts, company philosophy, and procedures.
- Review company policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements to understand their application.
- Analyze loss experience, financial conditions, and physical risk characteristics.
- Gain a working knowledge of the various sections within the underwriting department.
- Communicate with independent agents and internal staff through writing and verbal interaction.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in college, entering your junior or senior year.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- Ability to organize data, manage multiple tasks, and make independent decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to resolve complex issues.
- Interest in building product knowledge through company educational programs.
