About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring an Underwriting Intern for Summer 2027. This part-time, paid position is based on-site in Lakeland, Florida. You will gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry by working directly with our underwriting team.
What you'll do#
- Learn about insurance coverages, contracts, and company procedures.
- Review company policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements.
- Analyze risk factors including loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics.
- Get to know how different sections of the underwriting department function.
- Communicate with independent agents and internal staff.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in college as an incoming junior or senior.
- Ability to organize data, handle multiple tasks, and make independent decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in building product knowledge through educational programs.
- Capacity to resolve complex issues.
- You must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
