About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring for a Personal Lines Underwriting Internship for the summer of 2027. This full-time, paid position is based on-site in Brentwood, Tennessee. You will work within our underwriting department to learn how we evaluate risk and support our independent agents.
What you'll do#
- Learn insurance coverages, contracts, and company procedures to assist with underwriting decisions.
- Study company policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements to understand their application.
- Analyze risk factors, including loss experience and financial conditions.
- Gain experience by working with various sections of the underwriting department.
- Communicate with employees and independent agents using both written and verbal methods.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in college, entering your junior or senior year.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- Ability to organize data and manage multiple tasks at once.
- Skill in making decisions independently and resolving complex issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
