About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring an intern for our Personal Lines Underwriting team for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Lansing, Michigan. You will earn $18.00 per hour while gaining practical experience in insurance underwriting.
What you'll do#
- Learn insurance coverages, contracts, and company procedures to support underwriting decisions.
- Study company policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements to understand their use.
- Analyze risk factors including loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics.
- Communicate with independent agents and internal employees through writing and conversation.
- Participate in educational programs to build your product knowledge.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in college as a junior or senior.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- Ability to organize data, handle multiple tasks, and make independent decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to resolve complex issues.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
