About the role#
This internship provides an introduction to personal lines underwriting. You will learn how we evaluate risks and manage insurance contracts. This is a part-time, paid position for the summer of 2027 based in our Lima, Ohio office.
What you'll do#
- Learn insurance coverages, company philosophy, and internal procedures.
- Make underwriting decisions based on your training.
- Review company policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements.
- Analyze risks by looking at loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics.
- Gain experience with the various sections of the underwriting department.
- Communicate with independent agents and internal team members.
What you'll need#
- You are currently enrolled in college and entering your junior or senior year.
- You are pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- You can organize data and handle multiple tasks at once.
- You are comfortable making decisions independently and resolving complex issues.
- You possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- You have an interest in building product knowledge through our educational programs.
- You must be able to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
