About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a Data Engineering intern to join our team for the summer of 2027. You will work on data processes, analyze user needs, and develop project plans to support our business operations. This role focuses on designing and managing solutions for data quality, reporting, and governance.
What you'll do#
- Work with project stakeholders to identify business requirements and expected outcomes.
- Build, maintain, and document code used to transform, aggregate, and analyze data.
- Evaluate the reliability of data sources and investigate data integrity.
- Create and enhance data extracts to support reporting functions.
- Contribute to and promote the peer review process, verify work completed by others, and develop quality control measures.
- Assist with training and mentoring other associates.
- Evaluate and complete regulatory data requests.
What you'll need#
- Current student working toward a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics.
- Completion of at least two years of coursework.
- Ability to apply mathematical, statistical, and programming concepts to solve complex processes.
- Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Technical writing, collaboration, and presentation skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Lansing, Michigan.
- The term is for Summer 2027, with typical dates running from mid-May to mid-August.
- This position is paid.
