About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring a Claims Representative Intern for the summer of 2027. This position is based on-site in Portage, Michigan. You will gain experience in the insurance industry by supporting the resolution of claims and assisting our agents and policyholders.
What you'll do#
- Investigate claims by phone, mail, and on-site visits.
- Assemble facts and analyze legal liability to determine policy coverage.
- Evaluate the amount of loss to pay or deny claims.
- Study insurance policies, endorsements, and forms to build your knowledge.
- Ensure all claim payments are accurate and issued on time.
- Attend legal proceedings such as arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in college, specifically entering your junior or senior year.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A detail-oriented approach with the ability to organize and interpret data.
- Capacity to manage multiple assignments at once.
- Ability to resolve complex issues.
- Authorization to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.
