About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring a Claims Representative Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Troy, Michigan. You will gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry by managing claims and supporting our policyholders.
What you'll do#
- Investigate claims by gathering facts, reviewing policies, and evaluating losses.
- Determine coverage and analyze legal liability to decide on claim outcomes.
- Issue payments accurately and promptly.
- Communicate with agents and policyholders through phone, mail, and in-person visits.
- Assist with claim resolutions and attend legal proceedings such as mediations, depositions, or trials.
- Study insurance forms, policies, and endorsements to build your industry knowledge.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in college, entering your junior or senior year.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Economics, or Criminal Justice.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize data and manage multiple tasks at once.
- Attention to detail and a knack for solving complex problems.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
