About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring a Claims Representative Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Forest, Virginia. You will gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry by participating in a structured training program with employee mentoring.
What you'll do#
- Investigate and assemble facts to determine policy coverage.
- Evaluate the amount of loss and analyze legal liability.
- Handle investigations through phone calls, mail, and on-site visits.
- Work toward the resolution of claims, which may include attending arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
- Ensure claims payments are issued accurately and on time.
- Service the needs of agents and policyholders.
- Study insurance policies, endorsements, and forms to build your technical knowledge.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in college, entering your junior or senior year.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Criminal Justice.
- Above-average written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and interpret data.
- Capacity to resolve complex issues and manage multiple assignments.
- Detail-oriented approach to work.
- Ability to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
