About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring a Claims Representative Intern for Summer 2027. This part-time, paid internship is based on-site in Grand Rapids, Michigan. You will work with our team to help individuals and businesses recover after a loss.
What you'll do#
- Investigate claims by phone, mail, and on-site visits.
- Gather facts, determine policy coverage, and evaluate the total amount of loss.
- Analyze legal liability to pay or deny claims.
- Study insurance policies, endorsements, and forms to build your knowledge.
- Manage the resolution of claims and ensure payments are issued accurately and on time.
- Support the needs of agents and policyholders.
- Attend legal proceedings such as arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials if needed.
What you'll need#
- You are currently enrolled in college and entering your junior or senior year.
- You have above-average written and verbal communication skills.
- You can handle multiple assignments and resolve complex issues.
- You are detail-oriented and comfortable organizing and interpreting data.
- You must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
