About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is looking for a Claims Representative Intern for the summer of 2027. You will assist our team in managing claims and providing service to our agents and policyholders. This is a paid, part-time position based in Lansing, Michigan.
What you'll do#
- Investigate claims and assemble facts to determine policy coverage.
- Evaluate the amount of loss and analyze legal liability.
- Make decisions to pay or deny losses.
- Study insurance policies, endorsements, and forms to build your knowledge.
- Manage investigations through phone, mail, and on-site visits.
- Ensure claims payments are issued accurately and on time.
- Support the resolution of claims, which may include attending arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
- Assist agents, policyholders, and other stakeholders with their needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in college, entering your junior or senior year.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and interpret data.
- Skill in handling multiple assignments at once.
- Attention to detail and the ability to resolve complex issues.
