About the role#
The Audiology Extern role at Audibel provides hands-on clinical experience for students completing their Au.D. degree. You will work under the guidance of a preceptor to treat patients, fit hearing instruments, and manage clinical tasks. This position involves direct patient care, including diagnostics and aural rehabilitation, while fulfilling university and ASHA requirements.
What you'll do#
- Conduct patient diagnostics including audiometry, tinnitus evaluations, and vestibular testing.
- Fit and sell hearing aids and accessories following company protocols.
- Counsel patients on hearing solutions, finance options, and device maintenance.
- Maintain accurate patient records and SOAP notes in accordance with company policy.
- Assist with office management tasks, including equipment maintenance and marketing efforts.
- Participate in the TeleHear program to provide remote services to patients.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and state licensing regulations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Audiology graduate program.
- Eligibility for the externship year per university requirements.
- Ability to obtain Audiology and Dispensing Temporary Licensure.
- At least one year of clinical practice experience.
- Proficiency with software systems including Hearing Fusion, NOAH, and Inspire OS.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
