About the role#
AtkinsRéalis is hiring a Rail Infrastructure Co-op Student for the Winter 2027 term. You will work with our Trackwork Engineers and EITs to support design and construction documentation for rail and transit projects across Canada. This is a full-time, paid, hybrid position based in Toronto.
What you'll do#
- Create rail alignment, profile, trackplan, and trackwork detail drawings.
- Develop layouts for yards and maintenance facilities, including cross sections and track clearance envelopes.
- Produce drawings for ductbanks, cable routing, emergency walkways, transit signage, and guideway lighting.
- Use CAD and 3D software to develop design solutions.
- Perform technical analyses to solve design issues.
- Attend site visits to support project design and construction.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Familiarity with the Track Design Handbook for Light Rail Transit (TCRP 155).
- Ability to apply AREMA, EN, AS, or other international standards in alignment and trackwork design.
- Understanding of the Canadian transit environment.
- Self-motivated with a focus on teamwork.
- Ability to adapt to changing work environments.
