About the role#
We are seeking a Transportation Tolling and ITS Engineering Intern to join our team in Atlanta, GA for the Spring 2027 term. This position supports the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) General Engineering Contract (GEC) Program. You will work closely with our program director, consultants, and client staff on various design, construction, and systems projects, with a focus on express lanes.
What you'll do#
- Apply your knowledge of toll systems, operations, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to support planning and engineering initiatives.
- Assist in the design and development of tolling concepts, including requirements analysis, specifications, system implementation, and testing.
- Work within small, multidisciplinary teams to solve toll-related challenges.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and operational discussions.
- Collaborate with SRTA Engineering, the Project Management Office, Operations, Communications, and Legal teams.
- Serve as an extension of client staff by working with agency personnel on a daily basis.
- Manage technical data records and project documentation.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 36 credit hours toward a degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial and Systems Engineering from an ABET-accredited program by the start of the internship.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Strong technical writing and verbal presentation skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation is preferred.
