About the role#
The Adventure Outings Student Climbing Wall Supervisor supports the Student Manager in daily gym operations and staff development. This role acts as a bridge between the Student Manager and the floor staff to ensure smooth operations and a supportive work environment. You will assist with scheduling, staff training, and equipment inspections while maintaining a clean and safe facility.
What you'll do#
- Oversee the WREC Climbing Gym and manage the check-in desk.
- Enforce gym policies and procedures while creating an inclusive atmosphere.
- Operate office systems including Connect2 and Fusion.
- Belay participants and administer belay tests.
- Teach climbing and belay clinics.
- Set routes and maintain the wall area and holds.
- Handle gym opening and closing duties.
- Report incidents and injuries.
- Assist with equipment inspections and ensure rental processes are efficient.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and training sessions.
- Execute emergency response protocols when necessary.
What you'll need#
- Familiarity with indoor climbing and equipment.
- Knowledge of Wildcat Recreation Center policies.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Enrollment in at least six units at CSU, Chico.
- Ability to obtain First Aid, CPR, AED, WREC Belay, and WREC Lead Climb certifications within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to work at least 10 hours per week.
- Capacity for physical tasks such as lifting and cleaning in various conditions.

- Location: Chico, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $17.32 per hour.
- Schedule: Part-time, maximum 20 hours per week during the school session.
