About the role#
The Residential Dining Student Assistant is an entry-level food service position. You will help prepare, cook, and serve food across various production and service areas. This is a part-time, non-benefited role for the Fall 2026 semester, with a maximum of 20 hours per week. The pay rate is $16.90 per hour. Shifts are based on department needs and may change.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and serve food as directed.
- Follow food safety guidelines and handling requirements.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe working area.
- Set up service and preparation stations.
- Clean and replenish dining rooms, dishwashing areas, and service stations.
- Follow all safety standards and operating procedures.
- Notify supervisors if you see a policy violation.
- Provide quality service to customers and help meet service objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at CSU, Chico.
- Maintain at least 6 units as an undergraduate or 4 units as a graduate student throughout your employment.
- Ability to obtain a California Food Handlers card within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of your shift.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to use food service equipment.
