About the role#
In this internship, you will join the EUV Light Sources team to improve how we monitor laser and tin material alignment. You will work with high-speed camera images captured during plasma formation. Your primary goal is to develop image-based Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that provide reliable data on system alignment. This role involves turning raw image data into measurable insights that help us maintain stable and efficient system operation.
What you'll do#
- Collect and organize high-speed image data from controlled experiments.
- Extract image features using conventional processing techniques or ML/AI methods.
- Develop image-based KPIs to summarize system performance.
- Validate these KPIs against performance measurements.
- Ensure your KPIs remain robust across different operating conditions.
- Document your analysis in scripts, notebooks, and technical reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in computer science, control systems, physics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience using Python for data analysis.
- Familiarity with ML/AI-based image analysis methods.
- Ability to apply clustering, dimensionality reduction, or supervised learning techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in San Diego, California.
- You must be work-authorized in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.
- This role requires working in a clean room environment, which involves wearing specific protective gear such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, and gloves for the duration of your shift.
- Physical requirements include the ability to sit, walk, reach, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
