About the role#
ASM is looking for an intern to join the Product Intelligence Engineering team. You will develop AI and machine learning analytics applications specifically for semiconductor manufacturing. This role provides hands-on experience building software in advanced manufacturing environments while you work alongside experienced engineers. You will take ownership of a defined project and receive mentorship throughout the internship.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to the design, development, and testing of backend services for our AI/ML analytics platform.
- Work on a specific project with defined technical deliverables and business impact.
- Write clean, reliable, and tested code with feedback from senior team members.
- Gain experience working with large-scale telemetry and manufacturing equipment data.
- Assist in developing and improving APIs, data pipelines, and application functionality.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and troubleshooting.
- Learn how software is developed and deployed in secure semiconductor environments.
- Collaborate with software, product, and field engineering teams to develop technical solutions.
- Document your technical approach and project outcomes.
- Present your project results to the team at the end of your internship.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Programming experience from coursework, research, personal projects, or previous internships.
- Experience with or interest in learning Go or Python.
- Understanding of software fundamentals like data structures, algorithms, APIs, databases, and version control.
- Interest in backend development, distributed systems, or data-intensive applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate technical ideas clearly.
- Curiosity and the initiative to take ownership of a technical project.
- Familiarity with Linux and PostgreSQL is a plus.
- Exposure to Go, Python, PostgreSQL, gRPC, Kafka, Redis, Docker, C#, C++, React, TypeScript, or JavaScript is a plus.
- Experience with time-series or high-volume datasets is a plus.
