About the role#
The Practicum Education Coordinator supports the School of Social Work by managing student internship placements and providing quality assurance for program operations. This role involves working directly with BSW and MSW students to secure placements, mentoring new staff, and maintaining strong relationships with community agencies. You will help implement program policies and ensure that practicum data remains accurate across all management systems.
What you'll do#
- Manage a caseload of students to help them secure and complete required internships.
- Coordinate and conduct training for new Practicum Coordinators.
- Represent the Practicum Team at faculty and community meetings.
- Develop and lead presentations for students regarding practicum requirements.
- Conduct quality assurance audits on student records and liaison grade sheets.
- Identify and recruit new community agencies to expand placement opportunities.
- Initiate and manage Student Placement Agreements.
- Provide technical guidance to students regarding academic standing and specialization requirements.
- Participate in data entry, analysis, and reporting for the department database.
- Support faculty committees and assist with accreditation reviews.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- A Master's of Social Work from an accredited university is desired.
- At least two years of post-graduate experience is preferred.
- Experience working with students in an academic setting.
- Knowledge of supervisory practices and problem resolution techniques.
- Ability to work independently and meet project timelines.
- Proficiency with multi-media tools, website development, and content management.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to analyze complex problems.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site position based at the Arizona State University Downtown Phoenix campus.
- The role involves regular office duties including sitting, keyboarding, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
