About the role#
Arc is building electric boats to modernize the marine industry. As a Vehicle Controls Engineering Intern, you will join our Electrical Systems Engineering team to support the development of our powertrain and software platforms. This is a full-time, paid internship based at our headquarters in Torrance, California, running from June 14 to August 20, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Develop and test control algorithms using MATLAB Simulink and Stateflow.
- Assist with the integration of hardware and software for vehicle control systems.
- Interpret electrical schematics to support control design efforts.
- Run simulations and basic tests to validate system functionality.
- Work with the team to troubleshoot and optimize control solutions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Familiarity with control systems and MATLAB Simulink through coursework or projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Experience with high-performance electric vehicles, solar cars, or Formula SAE projects is a plus.
- Knowledge of high-voltage systems, HV battery packs, and CAN communication.
- Enthusiasm for boating and clean energy.
Location & details#
- Location: Torrance, California (On-site).
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: $42 per hour.
