About the role#
This is a full-time, paid student worker position at The Halal Shack located at the University of South Carolina. This role is available for the Summer 2026 term and requires on-site attendance. Students from Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Human Resources, and Supply Chain Management programs are encouraged to apply.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and build food items following standardized recipes and directions.
- Set up workstations including prep tables, service counters, hot wells, and steam tables.
- Serve food to customers while ensuring guest satisfaction and anticipating needs.
- Replenish food items and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Break down, clean, and sanitize workstations.
- Store food properly in accordance with established standards.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures, including food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Ensure the security of company assets.
What you'll need#
- Previous food service experience is preferred.
- Ability to obtain or possess a food safety certification.
- Strong guest service skills and a positive demeanor.
- Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing.
- Willingness to wear uniforms or use Personal Protective Equipment as required.
