About the role#
This position at the Halal Shack on the University of South Carolina campus is a full-time student worker opportunity for the Summer 2026 term. You will support daily operations by preparing food, maintaining service stations, and interacting directly with customers. This role is on-site in Columbia, South Carolina.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and assemble food items following standardized recipes and instructions.
- Set up, break down, clean, and sanitize workstations, including prep tables, service counters, and steam tables.
- Serve food to customers while ensuring guest satisfaction and maintaining a positive demeanor.
- Properly store food items and replenish stock levels as needed.
- Adhere to safety policies, including food safety and sanitation standards, and ensure the security of company assets.
What you'll need#
- Demonstrated guest service skills.
- Ability to obtain or hold a food safety certification.
- Previous food service experience is preferred.
- This role involves physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking.
- Students from all majors are welcome, with particular relevance to those studying Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Human Resources, or Supply Chain Management.
