About the role#
We are hiring a Cook to join our team at the University of Central Florida Student Union. This is a full-time, on-site position. You will work with fresh ingredients and standard kitchen equipment to prepare meals following production guidelines.
What you'll do#
- Cook and prepare food using standardized recipes and production guidelines.
- Set up your workstation with the necessary ingredients and equipment.
- Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling.
- Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, mixers, and slicers.
- Use various cooking methods like baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming.
- Portion and garnish food items according to established standards.
- Clean and sanitize your work area, equipment, and utensils.
- Store food items properly to meet safety policies.
- Maintain a positive demeanor while interacting with guests and co-workers.
What you'll need#
- Previous experience as a cook or in a related role.
- Knowledge of food preparation principles and cooking methods.
- Ability to obtain food safety certification.
- Basic math and counting skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle physical demands such as lifting, bending, and extended periods of walking or standing.
- Availability to work weekends if required.
