About the role#
This co-op position focuses on research and development for next-generation semiconductor processes. You will work within the R&D group to support patterning and material modification projects. This role involves experimental process development, metrology, and data analysis to solve challenges in nanofabrication.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research on novel semiconductor processes, specifically targeting patterning and material modification.
- Perform thin-film characterization using techniques such as FTIR, Raman, XPS, XRR, ellipsometry, SEM, and TEM.
- Design and execute experiments using Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies.
- Analyze data using tools like Python, MATLAB, and JMP.
- Present your technical findings to internal stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program for Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Physics.
- Research experience in semiconductor processing, thin-film materials, plasma science, or advanced characterization.
- Proficiency in scientific programming and data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
- Ability to independently design and execute technical investigations.
- Comfort working in shared research facilities and following cleanroom protocols.

- Location: Gloucester, Massachusetts.
- Term: 6 to 9 months, starting between September and November 2026.
- Work modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: $47 - $50 per hour.
